Bear in tree causes issues at Longwood, Florida, dentist office

LONGWOOD, Fla. - A black bear caused some trouble for a dentist office in Central Florida on Tuesday.

The bear, which witnesses said weighs probably at least 300 pounds, climbed a tree just outside the Sweetwater Smiles dentist office at the intersection of Wekiva Springs Road and East Lake Brantley Road.

"The sound of his claws digging into the bark was quite loud. It's amazing the sound it makes when a 500-pound, or however much he weighs, bear is scampering up a tree," said Dr. Daniel Quevedo.

Customers said they are hesitant to go into that office with the bearing hanging out in the tree.

"He was almost at the front door of the dentist office," said witness Rodolfo Chang.

Shortly after 12:30 p.m., the bear climbed down the tree and ran off.
