NAPLES, Fla. — Authorities are trying to figure out what is killing a particular kind of fish in a southwest Florida Bay.
Mullet are dying in Estero Bay but so far scientists haven't been able to figure out why. They started washing ashore in large numbers over the weekend.
Researchers told the Naples Daily News (http://newspr.es/vyWPZ6 ) that it could be some type of red tide. That's a type of algae that kills fish.
What's mystifying is that only mullet seem to be affected.
So far, no dead fish have been reported outside the bay.
