MIAMI (AP) - A man is recovering after being shot during a standoff with Miami-Dade police.
Police say 25-year-old Antonio Cardoza barricaded himself inside a home on Sunday. A neighbor called police to report a hearing a fight at the home.
A family member met arriving police units and said Cardoza was acting in a bizarre manner and had a firearm.
The Miami-Herald reports officers heard a window being smashed. Officers say he shouted that he'd shoot anyone who came close to the door. A Miami-Dade Police Special Response Team and negotiators were called to the home.
Authorities launched gas grenades into the home after several hours of negotiations.
According to authorities, Cardoza confronted an officer and exchanged gunfire. He was found wounded inside the house and taken to a hospital.
