MIAMI (AP) -- Little Ana Veronica couldn't wait on rush hour traffic.
She was born in the back seat of a black Cadillac on the side of the Dolphin Expressway in Miami during rush hour on Thursday afternoon.
Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez says Ana Delia Bracho went into labor and driver Michael Domenico pulled onto the side of the highway and called 911. A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crew and Trooper Aliek Sierra rushed to the scene.
The Miami Herald reports the trooper assisted in the delivery. A relative cut the cord and the 5-pound, one-ounce baby and her mother were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where they are recovering.
Bracho was visiting from Venezuela and wasn't due for another month. Her baby is now an American citizen.
