OCALA, Fla. (AP) -- A judge has ordered two central Florida teens accused of plotting to kill a classmate to remain behind bars.
The 16-year-olds, who are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, appeared before a judge Saturday. They are not being identified because of their age.
Parents of both boys attended the hearings and said they'll hire private attorneys. The teens do not have a prior arrest record.
Marion county authorities received a report that the boys wanted to torture, kill and dismember a ninth-grade classmate. Officials say the boys discussed gagging the juvenile, hitting him over the head and stuffing him into a "Kevlar bag" so he would sink. One suspect offered to bring a "torture kit." When deputies searched his car they found an ax, surgical cutting tools, and other items.
