NASA Orion test capsule parachute test live video stream

This morning starting at 10:30am, NASA will conduct one of Orion test capsule's most difficult parachute tests to date as it is dropped from a plane at 35,000 feet to evaluate its parachutes.

Orion's parachutes are being tested to ensure they can slow the capsule for a safe landing in the Pacific Ocean as the spacecraft reenters Earth's atmosphere at speeds of up to 20,000 mph.

During this test, engineers will simulate a failure of one of the spacecraft's three main parachutes, releasing it before Orion has landed.
