Pahokee murder victim's family makes emotional plea, asks public to find killer

PAHOKEE, Fla. - The family of a Pahokee man who was recently killed made an emotional plea to the community on Wednesday in hopes that it will lead to the apprehension of their son's killer.

Markeus D. Hickman, 37, and James W. Smith, 76, were found unresponsive around 4:30 a.m. Saturday outside of an apartment complex in the 700 block of Johnson Court.  

Investigators said the men were both beaten with some sort of blunt object.

Hickman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital but died Sunday morning.  Smith remains in critical condition at the hospital.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has not determined a motive for the attack.
