PAHOKEE, Fla. - Lack of revenue for the company leasing the Pahokee Marina and campground has caused them to end their agreement with the City of Pahokee at the end of January.
Pahokee Mayor J.P. Sasser said Seven Kings Holdings has decided to end its lease with the city for the marina, which includes the campground and Bertha's Fish Joint.
The Mayor said Seven Kings Holdings predicted they were losing at least $30,000 in revenue each month over the past several months.
Mayor Sasser predicted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers repair project for the Herbert Hoover Dike in downtown Pahokee would cause something like this to happen.
The construction project has made it difficult for people to get to the Lake Okeechobee Outpost marina because it blocks one of the main roads into the marina.
The City of Pahokee is working to find another company to take over the property and keep the facilities open.
Sasser said the Seven Kings Holdings has decided to end their lease on January 31, 2012.
