BELLE GLADE, Fla. - Dense fog played a role in two crash scenes in western Palm Beach County, in which five people were hurt, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office.
The crashes happened on State Road 80 between Hatton Highway and Sugar House Road just before 8:30 a.m.
In the first incident a vehicle side-swiped two other vehicles and then collided with a train, according to the sheriff's office.
When rescue crews arrived, one vehicle was still on the tracks and all railway traffic was stopped for safety.
Four vehicles were involved in the second crash which happened about 1,000 yards west of the first crash scene.
According to the sheriff's office, a total of five people were transported to Lakeside Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
A section of State Road 80 was closed until 10:30 a.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the first crash and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's office is dealing with the second incident.
