Three-car crash in Belle Glade kills one driver

Three other people suffered minor injuries

BELLE GLADE, Fla. - An accident involving three vehicles in Belle Glade Friday afternoon, left three people suffering from minor injuries and one dead.

Maria Del Pilar Gavalz, 41, of Belle Glade was originally taken to Delray Medical Center, but was later pronounced dead.

Investigators determined that the accident took place around 2:38 p.m. when Galvalz turned left and headed westbound on East Canal Street. A driver already travelling in the lane identified as 67-year-old Izear Barber, of Belle Glade, rear-ended Galvalz's Ford sport utility vehicle, the report stated. The impact sent Galvalz into the eastbound lane where she struck the truck of 61-year-old Dannie Adams, of Belle Glade.

After crashing into Adams' truck, Galvalz's SUV rolled over on its side. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

Also travelling with Galvalz was Charkitha Laidler, 29, who suffered minor injuries.

The report notes that charges are pending.
