Oreste, Jorge Vergel: Father, son charged with stealing diesel from farm vehicles in Belle Glade

BELLE GLADE, Fla. - A father and son were arrested Sunday near Canal Point in western Palm Beach County on charges they stole diesel fuel from farm vehicles in the area, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.
Around 10 p.m., PBSO said a deputy on patrol near Ammons Road and US 441 N Canal Point saw headlights in an agricultural area off the highway.
Most of the property in that area, according to PBSO, is owned by U.S. Sugar Corporation.
The deputy spotted a U-Haul moving truck, and when he approached there was a strong smell of diesel fuel.
According to deputies, the truck had 1,300 gallons of fuel worth $5,200 along with tanks and a pump.
Deputies arrested Oreste Vergel and his son Jorge Vergel.
Both were charged with burglary, trespassing, grand theft and unlawful transportation of fuel.
According to PBSO, Oreste Vergel was on probation for grand theft at the time of his arrest.
