Firefighters rescue person from partially submerged car in Belle Glade

BELLE GLADE, Fla. - Emergency crews arrived on scene of a car-in-canal call just in time Wednesday evening. The caller was trapped inside a vehicle, with water up to the windows.

It was 8:50 p.m. Wednesday evening and the caller dialed 9-1-1 from inside the sinking vehicle in the 30,000 block of County Road 880. Arriving crews from fire rescue and the sheriff’s office found the front of the vehicle in the canal.

They quickly got to work and were able to get the occupant safely on to shore, said Captain Albert Borroto, spokesman for Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.

After an evaluation, it was determined the person was not injured and did not require hospitalization.
