Timothy Bragg identified as the second person who died in travel trailer fire in Indian River County

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The second person who died in a backyard RV fire on May 23 was Timothy Bragg, 46, of Vero Beach, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

He and Frederick Brubaker, 41, of Indian River County, were fatally burned in the 6 a.m. fire in the fenced-in backyard of a home in the 2600 block of 52nd Avenue. That is northeast of the intersection of State Road 60 and 58th Avenue.

Brubaker was identified first, based on forensic tests. Now Bragg’s family members and the Sheriff’s Office have confirmed he was the second person.

The state Fire Marshal continues investigating the cause of the blaze that also killed a dog. Until the cause is determined, “We can’t begin to say what was going on in there,” said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers.

Neighbors called in the fire and by the time firefighters arrived, the travel trailer was completely in flames. The roof had fallen and an nearby section of fence was burning.

Friends and families of the two men are planning to have a benefit for their survivors, who include children. The benefit is to be July 20 at the Moose Lodge in the 200 block of 43rd Avenue. Details are pending.
