TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The life of fallen St. Lucie County Sgt. Gary Morales will be remembered Monday when his name is added to the wall of fallen heroes in Tallahassee.
This week is National Peace Officers Week. The month of May is dedicated to honoring fallen officers.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office on Sunday posted a picture of the event with members of the Morales family, Sheriff Ken Mascara and the honor guard in the State Capitol.
Morales was killed last year during a traffic stop.
Families, law enforcement members and other local community members will be on hand Monday afternoon to add six other officers' names to the memorial wall at the Florida Sheriff's Association headquarters.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is among the list of speakers.
Last year was the first event held at the memorial wall. The fallen officers' ceremony is expected to continue to take place there.
