26-year-old Roberto Matias Velasquez died just after midnight Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on I-95.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Velasquez was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 truck on I-95 southbound at mile marker 115 just south of Gatlin Boulevard in the outside lane when he lost control and rotated across the lanes, left the roadway and entered the median.
His truck continued in a southeast direction through a ditch, struck the embankment and a tree with the right side of the vehicle and came to rest against the bushes in the tree line.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
