Meth lab busted on Hutchinson Island, St. Lucie County Sheriff says

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says its detectives and U.S. Drug Enforcement agents shut down a methamphetamine lab on South Hutchinson Island and arrested two people Wednesday.

The residence where the bust happened is located at 72 El Mar Drive just north of the Martin-St. Lucie County line, the sheriff's office said.

"In the investigation, our detectives and the DEA worked with the Martin County Sheriff's Office to develop probable cause to arrest Gregory Donn, 40, and Kari Lyn Norton, 31," Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a news release. "The two were operating a methamphetamine lab at the home, using highly unstable chemicals. These chemicals are known to be toxic to anyone who comes in contact with them and creates a dangerous situation for the entire neighborhood. We are grateful to remove this dangerous threat from this beautiful neighborhood. "

Gregory faces two counts of manufacturing amphetamine, two counts of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription and one count of possessing drug equipment.

Norton faces two counts of manufacturing amphetamine, three counts of possessing a controlled substance without a prescription, and one count of possessing drug equipment.

Both will face Thursday court appearances.
