Trevor Campbell: Port St. Lucie man threatened wife with machete, fired shotgun at police, cops say

Port St. Lucie police arrested 31-year-old Trevor Campbell on Saturday for aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated battery, and attempted murder of a Law Enforcement Officer.

Police went to the 1900 block of SE Hillmoor Drive to investigate a domestic disturbance on Saturday evening.

Police determined that during an argument, Campbell held a machete to his wife's throat.

Campbell's wife sustained minor lacerations to her neck.

Then Campbell grabbed a shotgun and threatened to kill himself.

Campbell and his wife struggled for the shotgun and the weapon discharged, firing a hole into the ceiling.

Campbell's wife fled the home as police units arrived.

Officers set up around the apartment and called for Campbell to exit.

As officers were positioned around the building, Campbell fired a shotgun round at the officers from the second floor of the apartment.

Crime Scene Investigators determined that the round traveled directly over the officers' heads.

A police sergeant made contact with Campbell on the telephone and he agreed to surrender to police.

Campbell is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
