Torrey Howard: Man in underwear caught after homeowner fires warning shot, police say

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A Vero Beach man, found cowering in his underwear from police in Port St. Lucie, faces a laundry-list of charges.

Dashcam video from last Saturday morning around 5:30 shows a Port St. Lucie officer knocking on the window of a car. The driver, identified by police as Torrey Howard, takes off and a short chase ensues.

Police say Howard bailed from the car and ran behind a home on Calder Street.

The homeowner there saw Howard hiding in his backyard and fired a warning shot into the ground.

Howard then stripped down to his underwear, and ran off to another home where he was eventually found on nearby Dania Street.

"Luckily no one was injured in this case and we caught the suspect without anyone getting hurt," said Port St. Lucie Police Sgt. Frank Sabol.
Howard faces a number of charges including burglary, prowling, and fleeing and eluding police.
