Port St. Lucie resident's surveillance video shows attempted car burglary

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A man was caught on home surveillance video trying to burglarize car Thursday in Port St. Lucie, and now police ask for the public's help identifying the person.

Port St. Lucie police said they went to a residence on SW Monterrey Lane to investigate an attempted burglary of a 2001 Saturn, which was parked in the driveway.

The victim told police that he has a home security video surveillance system that captured a man trying to open the doors to his parked car.

Police reviewed the video surveillance, which showed a man wearing a white tank top riding his bike in the driveway of the victim’s home.

Video shows the burglar getting off his bike and then trying to open the doors to the victim’s car.

The man was not able to gain access to the car since the doors were locked.  The burglar then walked parallel to the house until he was out of view of the camera.
