PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - In a few months, millions of Americans will review and select their health benefits for next year.
They'll have a lot of questions and customer service needs. That is why a Port St. Lucie company is opening hundreds of jobs to meet the demand.
It's a hiring spree for the Treasure Coast branch of a worldwide network—which is why Gregory Burgess woke up early and headed to Aegis Global Communications' Port St. Lucie office.
"I immediately jumped up, took me a nice shower, trimmed my face and came out to try and find me some work," said Burgess.
Brian Biele with Aegis said people like Burgess are in the right place at the right time, now that the network is looking to staff up with the job fair.
"We have about 450 to 480 employees currently, and over the next three months we're looking to grow that to about 800 more," Biele said.
Biele said Aegis is ramping up its health care outsourcing team of call center employees, just a few months ahead of the Annual Enrollment Period.
"This is, bar none, our favorite time of year," said Biele. "We get to extend and grow our Aegis family. "
Last year, 700 jobs were opened and fewer than 400 people applied. Now that even more jobs are being offered, Burgess is hoping more people like himself will step up to fill the need.
"You're looking at 800 positions, you're looking at 800 people that's in desperate need of jobs, and this right here will build the community up as far as economics is concerned," said Burgess.
To apply, you can either fill out the traditional paper application and drop it off at the Port St. Lucie office at 580 NW University Blvd., or visit the company's Website at
