PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - A 10-year-old boy remains in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday in Port St. Lucie as he was attempting to cross the street.
According to Port St. Lucie police, the boy, Maxim Rene, had run behind a parked car that was in the driveway of 482 S.W. Namoit Place and attempted to cross the street to his residence.
At the same time, 19-year-old driver Alexandra McCracken was traveling east in the 400 block of S.W. Namoit Place when she struck the boy.
Police say McCracken was unable to see the boy due to the parked car.
Maxim sustained head trauma in the accident and was transported to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
Port St. Lucie traffic investigators are investigating the crash. Information on any possible charges on the driver was not immediately available.
