Police search for suspected Publix cash thief in Port St. Lucie

Authorities in Port St. Lucie are searching for the man whom they say stole $500 in cash from a woman on Sunday, December 1 at the Publix supermarket on 3253 SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

Surveillance footage from the store shows an unidentified man picking up the woman's eyeglass case containing the cash at the Western Union counter.  The victim had placed the case down while playing the lottery at the same counter.

The suspect picked up the case and walked by the woman without being noticed.

He is described as a white male with gray or white hair.  He wears red framed glasses and is estimated to be 50 to 60-years-old, 5'9" or 5'10", and 160 to 170 pounds.  On the day of the crime, he was wearing a beige buttoned-down collared short-sleeve shirt with black pants and black shoes.  At this time there is no vehicle description for the suspect.
