Pizza Hut armed robbery investigated by Port St. Lucie police

PORT ST LUCIE, Fla. - Port St Lucie police are investigating an early morning robbery at the Pizza Hut at 1014 SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

Investigators say that just after midnight Sunday morning they receiving a call that the restaurant had been robbed at gunpoint. 

The cashier, according to police, says that a man came into the store and asked what the specials were. 

After a brief conversation, police say the man left the restaurant without ordering. 

A few minutes later the same person came back into the restaurant and placed an order, according to witnesses. A restaurant worker told police that the man appeared to be reaching for his wallet to pay for the order, but instead pulled out a silver handgun and demanded money. 

Investigators say that after receiving the money, the worker was ordered into the bathroom where he was then barricaded while the gunman ran off.

Police say that a delivery driver returning to the store also reported being robbed.

Port St Lucie police say the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 6' tall, and weighing about 175 pounds. 

Officers also say that the suspect was clean shaven with short cropped hair and had a small dark tattoo under his right eye. 

The suspect was wearing a black leather jacket, black t-shirt, and black pants.
