A memorial months in the making was formally unveiled and dedicated Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park in Port St. Lucie.
The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument honors families who have lost a loved one serving our country.
This is only the second Gold Star Families Memorial in the state of Florida. The other is in the Tampa area.
Seventeen Gold Star Families from across the Treasure Coast attended the dedication.
Crews broke ground on the project in February and have been working ever since to get it ready for Sunday's dedication.
The community raised more than $35,000 to make the project happen.
It gives Gold Star Families somewhere to go to honor their loved one, without traveling to Washington, D.C.
