ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 77-year-old man accused of having a sexual relationship with a teen girl for more than a year was arrested last week on a felony charge, according to recently released records.
Mario Louis Mozzillo of El Morrow in Port St. Lucie, was arrested on a sexual assault related charge.
The girl told a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office investigator she started a sexual relationship with Mozzillo in July 2010 when she was 16.
She said she moved out of Mozzillo's home in January and ended the relationship. She said she had intercourse with Mozzillo "numerous times."
Mozzillo on Sept. 4 contacted a sheriff's detective and said a female he was in a sexual relationship with was using the detective's name. He said the female moved out and took his computer, gold and money.
During the course of the investigation, Mozzillo gave the detective the female's tag number. The detective showed a photo of the tag's registered owner to Mozzillo, and he identified her as the female he was in a relationship with.
When investigators met with the female, she reportedly appeared nervous and said Mozzillo had been following and harassing her. She said they had a sexual relationship but that she'd "gotten away."
She said the sexual relationship began in July 2010 when she was 16 after she met him at a mall in Jensen Beach. She said she lived with Mozzillo, but moved out in January when she was 17.
Investigators were unable to substantiate Mozzillo's allegations about the girl using the detective's name, a sheriff's official said.
Arrested Sept. 7, Mozzillo was released the same day from the St. Lucie County Jail on $30,000 bond, according to a jail official and an arrest affidavit.
