Kyle Romain Hall: Port St. Lucie man accused of beating English bulldog with sawed-off shotgun

PORT St. LUCIE, Fla. - A Port St. Lucie man was arrested after police say he hit an English bulldog named Scrappy with a sawed-off shotgun after the dog had defecated on the floor of his apartment.

Port Saint Lucie police responded to Kyle Romain Hall's apartment located at 304 S.E. Walton Lakes Drive around noon on Wednesday to investigate a possible domestic disturbance.

Officers say they met with Hall's girlfriend who said Hall had become angry at their dog for "tearing up things in the apartment" and defecating on the floor.

Hall's girlfriend said he began hitting their dog Scrappy and the beating escalated when Scrappy began to cry and howl.

According to a police report, Hall filled up his bathtub with water and held Scrappy's head underwater. He also hit the dog repeatedly with a sawed-off shotgun. Police say Hall's girlfriend tried to intervene but Hall then pointed the gun at her, police said.

Officers said they found a "barely conscious, dazed and unresponsive" dog from the residence and transported the dog to Animal Kindness Hospital for treatment.

Hall was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail where he is facing charges of aggravated assault, possession of short barreled shotgun, and animal cruelty.
