PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Police in Port St. Lucie arrested two Walmart employees who were recorded on store surveillance cameras taking laptop computers, tablets, cellphone cases and headphones from a store.
Investigators said the incident occurred on July 18 at a store located at 1850 SW Gatlin Blvd.
According to police, loss prevention officers observed the employees, Jean Symson Dorcena, 20, of Port St. Lucie and Kirby Lynn Chastine, 23, of Pahokee, take computer laptops off a conveyor belt, put them on a pallet then cover them with other merchandise.
Investigators said Dorcena and Kirby would then move the pallet to the sales floor, remove the laptops and then place the merchandise in the stock room by the exit doors before taking the merchandise.
During the investigation, seven laptops were recovered. Police said the stolen items totaled upwards of $3,000.
Dorcena and Chastine were arrested on Sunday and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking. Police said the two confessed to stealing the merchandise during an interview with investigators.
