A Massachusetts man allegedly met a 16-year-old girl living in Port St. Lucie in an online chat room and sent her obscene photos and video of himself.
Grant Emmerson Dooley, 34, was charged Sunday with lewd computer solicitation of a child and six counts of electronic transmission of material harmful to a minor, according to an arrest affidavit. He was being held Tuesday in lieu of $140,000 in bond, according to St. Lucie County Jail records.
Dooley and the girl began exchanging phone calls and text messages in April, according to a warrant affidavit. The liaison was discovered when people in the girl's home read her diary after noticing she was taking her cell phone into the bathroom and sleeping with the device.
The girl told St. Lucie County sheriff's deputies that she had been speaking to about 25 men online, according to the warrant affidavit.
A detective, who examined her cell phone, discovered she had searched for airline tickets to Massachusetts, it said.
