Five arrested in multi-county shoplifting ring

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A suspected ring of shoplifters was busted Friday after attempting to flee a Walmart in Port St. Lucie.
After witnessing a band of suspected shoplifters fleeing a Walmart Friday, the store's loss prevention officer called Port St. Lucie police.
The employee saw the suspects pile into a green 1997 Plymouth van around 5 p.m. with over $1,800 worth of merchandise, according to a police report.
An officer was able to catch up with the suspects on Southeast Port St. Lucie Boulevard and positively identified them from photos taken by Walmart surveillance cameras, the report states.
After interviews, authorities said the group had been on a shoplifting spree, hitting stores in Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Brevard counties.
The suspects admitted to stealing from not only Walmart stores, but also Publix and Winn Dixie supermarkets throughout the four counties, investigators said.
The suspects are identified as Kara Wolfe, 24, of Merritt Island, Brandon Huff, 29, Rockledge, Daniel Hall, 29, Merritt Island, Tabitha Brady, 28, Merritt Island and James Bailey, 31, Brevard County.
Each suspect was charged with grand theft and was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail.
