Emmanuel Morgan, 7, and sister, Tatyanna Morgan, 10, exposed to gun violence in the past

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Police records show the child injured in a Port St. Lucie shooting Tuesday and his sister have previously been exposed to gun violence by family members.

In 2012, police say 7-year-old Emmanuel Morgan, and his 10-year-old sister, Tatyanna Morgan, were in their house when their mother's brother, Jamar Young, opened fire in the house.

An arrest affidavit says a bullet shot through a wall near a room where the kids were playing. They were 4 and 7-year-old at the time.

Police say this happened after the kids' mother's stepfather, Levi-Williams, punched Young in the face after a verbal argument.

Police also say the mom's boyfriend, Brandon Hawkins, got involved in the fight.

Young was charged for discharging a weapon inside the home. Williams was charged with domestic battery.

Police say DCF did investigate that case, but DCF says it is not getting involved yet with the most recent shooting incident.

The 7-year-old remains in the hospital.

Police say the 10-year-old is with her mother, Jamie Young's custody.
