Digital Domain closing: Port St. Lucie city council members expected to discuss business downfall

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Port St. Lucie city council members will meet Monday night and are expected to discuss the sudden downfall of Digital Domain.

The company unexpectedly announced Friday that it was laying off 280 employees.

Many employees came from other parts of the country, and the world.

Now, they must figure out what to do next.

Also feeling the effects of the mass layoffs are local businesses.

NewsChannel 5 spoke with several local business owners over the weekend who say they've seen a sudden decline in customers.

Along with Monday's city council meeting, there will also be an informal county commission meeting Tuesday at 9 a.m.
