A Port St. Lucie man, whom police say went shopping at a Wal-Mart and left two children in a running car, is under arrest.
Police say they discovered the vehicle parked in a fire lane at the Wal-Mart at 1850 SW Gatlin Boulevard around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Inside the car they say they found a 2-year-old boy in the front seat and a 9-month-old in the back seat.
Police say as they were investigating a man came out of the store and said he was the father of the boys and he was just exchanging shoes.
Police arrested Dayne Edward Michael Benoit, 24, and charged him with two counts of child neglect.
The children are in good shape and have been turned over to their mother, police said.
