PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Port St. Lucie police said a private home health care nurse was caught on bank surveillance cameras cashing checks that belonged to a 71-year-old patient.
The patient contacted authorities after he noticed he was missing two checks from his checkbook.
The victim also contacted his bank and was told that someone had forged two checks totaling to $800. The man told police he had three different home health nurses who assisted him with daily activities.
Detectives obtained documents and surveillance photos from the bank that identified Chanetra Lana Neely as a suspect.
Neely was arrested in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
She faces charges of exploitation of elderly or disabled adult while in position of trust, uttering a forged check, grand theft of person over 65 years of age, and organized fraud.
