ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A 43-year-old Port St. Lucie man who said he was lonely is accused of sexually molesting a girl 25 times, according to an arrest affidavit.
The affidavit quotes Benjamin Stalker telling investigators he was "messed up," yet he loved the 9-year-old girl. Now Stalker, of the 200 block of Northwest Bayshore Boulevard, is being held in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $250,000 bail.
He was arrested Monday night after an investigator listened in on a phone call during which Stalker is alleged to have said he molested the girl at residences both in Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce.
And that occurred on days when she was out of school and her caretaker was away, the report states.
The affidavit quotes the youth as saying he told her to remain quiet about their encounters.
