ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - A 10-year-old girl was flown to a trauma center Saturday morning after falling off the back of a motorcycle on Florida's Turnpike north of Fort Pierce, said Battalion Chief Arthur Poolt, St. Lucie County Fire Rescue.
Poolt said the child was riding in the back of her mother's motorcycle when she fell asleep.
The child was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center. There is no word on her condition, Poolt said.
The 11:47 a.m. accident closed all southbound lanes of the Turnpike near Fort Pierce for more than one hour.
There was a second accident nearby involving four vehicles and multiple patients.
No one suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Wysocky.
