ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. - A St. Lucie County deputy who died in the line of duty received a posthumous honor Tuesday.
A sheriff's office substation at the St. Lucie County Airport was dedicated in honor of master deputy Joseph Hover.
Hover served for two decades.
In 2005, he was injured during a training exercise and died from complications during surgery.
He took his certification and ran with it and did wonderful things," said his wife Margaret Hover.
Sheriff Ken Mascara said, "I put forth an effort that we were going to memorialize these heroes of the sheriff's office."
Deputy Hover had spearheaded the department's auto theft task force.
That division is now housed in the building that bears his name.
