Tarneisha Thomas, juvenile justice worker, accused of having sex with boy, 15, in state custody

FORT PIERCE — A female employee of the state Department of Juvenile Justice is accused of having sex at her home with a 15-year-old boy who had been in state custody.

Tarneisha Thomas, 30, of the 100 block of Carol Susan Lane, Fort Pierce, was jailed Saturday on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior with a youth between 12 and 15 years old.

The victim was to be released from the juvenile detention center and, according to Thomas' arrest report, his father was to drop him off at her residence.

Before his release, police intervened and questioned him. They quoted him as saying he had been at Thomas' residence several times and spent the night with her.

Police also questioned Thomas' 13-year-old daughter who, according to the arrest affidavit, said she met the boy in August and he stayed the night in her mother's bedroom several times. She did not ask him what he was doing in the bedroom, the report states.

Thomas was brought in for questioning. She said she did understand her rights and asked to have an attorney. She was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
