Man shot, killed in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - FORT PIERCE — A 27-year-old Fort Pierce resident died of a wound from early morning gunfire in the area of North 20th Street and Avenue E, police said Tuesday.

Anthony Walker was killed in the 3:20 a.m. incident, which is classified as a homicide. Police found him in the roadway with a single gunshot wound. He died shortly after being taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute.

Police are working to find witnesses to interview. There are no suspects at this time.

This is the fourth gunshot fatality in Fort Pierce’s Lincoln Park neighborhood this year.

On Jan. 16, two people were fatally shot and one injured during a nighttime home invasion robbery in the 400 block of North 18th Street. Killed in the incident were Dontavis Albury, 30, and John Soloman, 66. The assailants were described as three males.

Then on Jan. 19, Fort Pierce Central High School student Raynol Wilson, 16, as fatally shot in the street about 6:40 p.m. in the 2200 block of Avenue I, a block from his home in Fort Pierce. According to his mother, a witness said two unidentified men jumped out of a vehicle, shot him and then drove off.
