Ft Pierce teen arrested on weapons charges

FT PIERCE, Fla. - A 17-year-old has been arrested by the Fort Pierce police 

Officers charged him this morning with carrying a concealed firearm and loitering.  Police say that they responded to the area of 3215 Avenue Q regarding to a call of several males carrying firearms. 

They tried to flee when officers arrived.  Officers detained one of the teens and found him to be in possession of a .357 handgun.  While searching the area, A K-9 also found a second handgun that had apparently been discarded in a yard on Avenue R.  The second gun was a loaded .380 semi automatic pistol. 

Police say that the 17-year-old was booked into the St Lucie County Jail as a juvenile. The State Attorney's Office will decide if he will be charged as an adult.

A week ago Fort Pierce Police also also recovered three guns after responding to the 100 block of N 29th Street. Police found an AR-15 semi- automatic rifle (stolen out of Palm Beach) and two handguns.  No arrests were made. 

Ft Pierce Police are asking anyone who suspects drug or illegal weapons to  call 911 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273-8477 (TIPS).  Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for up to $1,000.00 in reward money.
