Fort Pierce police identify female bicyclist killed in crash

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A female bicyclist was struck and killed Tuesday evening in Fort Pierce.
The crash occurred in the 1400 block of Hartman Road around 6 p.m., according to police.
Saint Lucie County Fire Rescue identified the bicyclist as 43-year-old Maureen P. Quigg of Fort Pierce.
Investigators said that Robert Craig Matthews, 33, of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., was traveling south on Hartman Road in a blue-colored Chevy Impala when he struck Quigg, who was riding her bicycle on the west side of the road.
The vehicle made impact with the bicycle, propelling the rider into a grassy area. Quigg's next of kin has been notified.
Currently there are no charges against the driver. Due to the extent of the injuries sustained in the crash, toxicology reports are pending.
