Fort Pierce city commissioners approve a study that would bring Tri-Rail to the area

The study will cost close to $120,000

As Tri-Rail expands, Fort Pierce city leaders hope to be included on the route.

According to TC, city commissioners approved a study for $120,000 on how to bring the train system to the area.
The town would need to prepare for rail service and a train station.
City leaders are also looking at a parking garage near City Hall on Orange Avenue. They believe having a train stop in Fort Pierce would be a central location for residents on the Treasure Coast.
Tri-Rail currently runs through Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties and eventually plans to expand to Jupiter.
All Aboard Florida has plans to build an inter-city rail service that will extend to Orlando.
This study will also look at transportation and building fees and how it will eventually impact the city.
