Boil-water advisory issued for parts of Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - A precautionary boil water advisory was issued Sunday evening for neighborhoods around the Timber Lakes Golden Pond Interstate 95 rest area.

The advisory was issued after a cracked water main.

Residents are asked to boil the water for the next 72 hours.

The Florida Pierce Utilities Authority recommends that residents use bottled water, if available. If not, bring water to a rolling boil for one minute before drinking, cooking or brushing teeth. Let it cool, then store it in clean containers with covers.

If you cannot boil the water, disinfect it using household bleach. Add 1/8 teaspoon or eight drops of regular, unscented, liquid household bleach for each gallon of water. Stir well and let it stand for 30 minutes before using the water. Store disinfected water in clean containers with covers.
