PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Blake Hadley was the "gentle giant" to his family.
He stood 6'4, but with a constant grin, could never be considered imposing.
Married to his wife, Mary Jo, for 25 years, his family says the couple lived for their two children, Ryan and Tyler.
"He was a good man, a very good man," says Mark Ankrom, Blake Hadley's nephew. "Not a mean bone in his body and I just can't believe something like this would happen."
Tyler Hadley is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Port St. Lucie Police say the 17-year old posted a status update on Facebook Saturday, telling his friends about a possible party at his parent's home on Granduer Drive.
Investigators say Tyler then bludgeoned his parents to death with a hammer, covering their bodies with towels and books and locking them in the master bedroom.
He then hosted the party for about 60 of his friends.
James Williams saw the updates on Facebook, but decided not to go.
"From what I've heard about Tyler, he was a really cool guy," says Williams. "And from what I've seen, he was a really cool guy and then, all of a sudden, I hear about this and I just don't know what to think."
No one can understand what happened, not Tyler's friends or the family who thought they knew him best.
Blake and Tyler Hadley had been at a family reunion together last week and everything seemed okay.
"I just don't understand how this would happen and our whole thing is why, we need some answers," says Ankrom. "Closure and why?"
