Investigators have identified the driver of a dump truck who died after a crash with a train in St. Lucie County Thursday afternoon.

He was 53-year-old Oslavio Morales of Port St. Lucie.

The crash happened at 2:30 p.m. at 12701 Glades Cutoff Road.

Officials say the truck was traveling southwest on the dirt road across the railroad tracks when the driver failed to observe the approaching train.

According to FHP, the dump truck cab became separated from the body of the vehicle and the driver was ejected. The train did not derail.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue dive team searched the canal for the driver and cab, using a drone submarine.

The dump truck was removed from the canal and transported to a storage facility in Port St. Lucie.

The St. Lucie County dive team searched the water for several hours and were unable to locate the driver.

Officials say the search was stopped for safety reasons.

The body of Morales was found Friday.

FHP says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
