Are predators searching for sea turtle eggs?

Residents and beach-goers on Hutchinson Island are being asked to keep an eye out for coyotes!
St. County officials say predators, including coyotes, may be impacting sea turtle populations. There have been several reported sightings of a coyote just south of the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant.

So far there have been no reports of damaged turtle nests there.

However, last year more than 450 nests were lost to coyotes.
Officials ask if you get a picture of a coyote on the island, please upload it to them.
