ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Investigators remain secretive about a multi-agency drug investigation that arrested a number of people last week including a Port St. Lucie man held in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $2.75 million bail on 61 charges, according to arrest records.
Bernard Davis, 33, of the 300 block of Southwest Twig Avenue was arrested June 4 on charges ranging from trafficking in heroin, hydromorphone and oxycodone to unlawful use of communication equipment during a three-months period, March through May.
He is one of eight people, mainly from St. Lucie County, jailed on drug charges on bails in excess of $100,000.
All that the sheriff’s office has said is the arrests come in the wake of an 11-month investigation by local and federal agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Search warrants were served on Davis’ address, along with two in northwest Fort Pierce: the 400 blocks of North 28th and North 31st streets, reports show.
Details of what was found hasn’t been disclosed and many of the arrest affidavits are blacked out to cover up pages detailing the investigation.
The North 28th Street address was the site of the arrest of a second defendant: Terry Bryant, 27, of the 2800 block of Avenue Q, Fort Pierce. He is in the St. Lucie County Jail in lieu of a $725,000 bail on 30 charges, mainly for sale and delivery of cocaine, hydromorphone and marijuana.
Also arrested was Lashanna Jennings, 32, who is jailed in lieu of a $607,000 bail on 10 charges, mainly trafficking in opium. Those offenses occurred at the North 28th Street address, according to officials. Investigators also searched her home in the 400 block of North 41st Street.
Four of the other main arrests so far are of Cassandra Ali, 50, of Opa-locka, Dora Blanc, 49, of North Lauderdale and Fort Pierce residents Michael Lenard, of the 400 block of North 41st Steet and Anthony Goshay, 39, of the 700 block of North 25th Street.
Those four are being held on drug charges in lieu of bails ranging from $210,000 for Goshay to $338,000 for Ali, jail records show.
Two other Fort Pierce residents are jailed on bails in excess of $100,000. Kayla Smith, 20, of the 1110 block of Pine Avenue, has a bail of $120,000 on 13 charges including solicitation to sell hydromorphone and oxycodone. Eva Howard, 34, of the 3100 block of Avenue I, is in jail in lieu of a $110,000 bail on charges of possession of cocaine, hydromorphone and oxycodone, according to jail records.
