Palm Beach County is home to many parks and natural areas important to our paradise.
Jack Levy at Wakodahatchee Wetlands near Delray Beach appreciates the wildlife here in particular. He comes here at least once a week.
"Perfect shot is him skimming the water," said Jack as he snaps a picture of a bird at the park.
In the Seminole language, Wakodahatchee means "created waters."
That's the perfect name for these wetlands.
"This is a naturalized wetland area," said Beth Motchenbacher with Palm Beach County Utilities.
The county has created these wetlands for many species through a nearby wastewater treatment facility.
"Reuse treated wastewater that was discharged from our regional treatment facility directly into the wetland," said Motchenbacher.
Over time the water recharges the aquifer that we pull drinking water from.
Other municipalities are showing interest.
