Woman killed in Delray Beach head-on collision crash Wednesday identified as Bette Muscarnera

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has identified a woman killed Wednesday afternoon in a suburban Delray Beach crash.

Bette Muscarnera, 82, of suburban Delray Beach died after the car she was riding in was involved in a collision at the intersection of West Atlantic Avenue and El Claire Ranch Road.

According to a sheriff's crash report, Perry and Bette Muscarnera were traveling east on Atlantic when the elderly couple's 2002 Chrysler Sebring turned left at the intersection and into the path of a westbound Honda Accord.

The Accord, which entered the intersection under a green traffic signal, struck the Sebring's passenger side, the report said.

Bette Muscarnera was pronounced dead at the scene. Perry Muscarnera, 87, who was driving the Sebring, was taken to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Accord's driver, 17-year-old Fredric Kasten of suburban Boca Raton, was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.
