Rain takes toll on Delray Medical Center, some patients moved

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - The rain has taken a toll on the Delray Medical Center, but it is open and still accepting patients.

A well maintained lake overflowed into the parking lot and water seeped into the bottom level of the hospital.

Several cars were stuck and had to be towed.

Some patients had to be moved from the first floor.

Employees say this is the worst they've seen it in a long time.

One said, "Never quite like this, no. Occasionally it's gotten higher, a little bit high but never, never like this. I've never seen anything like this in 17 years," said one employee.

"Patient care is not affected and we have safely moved patients to the second floor, " Delray Medical Center CEO Mark Bryan said in a statement. "We take the safety of our patients, our employees and our visitors very seriously and is our top priority. We routinely practice our ability to respond to unique situations like this, which allows us to continue to provide a safe environment for our patients and staff. "
