Patrick Henderson: Delray Beach man arrested twice in 24 hours for huffing chemicals, police say

Arrest records suggest Patrick Henderson couldn't get enough.

Less than 24 hours after officers arrested the 29-year-old man and charged him with huffing chemicals in Delray Beach, police say he walked into a Target, bought four more cans of dust remover and proceeded to get high again in Boynton Beach.

Henderson, of Delray, later caught the attention of a concerned passer-by, who called in a report that led to his second arrest in half as many days.

According to a Boynton Beach police report, an anonymous caller told police he saw a man sitting in a maroon Ford Explorer Sunday morning, huffing chemicals out of what looked like a can of whipped cream.

When police rolled up, an officer soon found the man, later identified as Henderson, sitting in the car with a can of 3M Dust Remover.

Henderson looked groggy and lethargic. Officers questioned him.

"[Henderson] was able to answer some general questions correctly," the report says, "after thinking about it."

The officer then asked Henderson to get out of the Explorer. As Henderson got out of the car, he put the can of 3M Dust Remover on the passenger seat.

Looking through the car window, the officer realized there were more chemicals in the car.

"On the passenger seat was a Target bag that had three additional cans in which Henderson stated he had just bought along with a bottle of water," the report says.

Officers then noticed a large, brown paper bag labeled with numbers sitting in the back seat. Officers knew immediately that Henderson had just left jail. The numbered bag is used when booking prisoners in and out of the Palm Beach County Jail.

Henderson left jail the night before. Delray Beach Police had arrested him and charged him with huffing chemicals.

"Henderson stated that he relapsed yesterday over personal issues after being sober for seven months," the release said.

Officers then booked Henderson in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $250 bond.
